What are the types of Chemical Peeling?

Depending on the layer it effects, there are three types of chemical peeling such as Light, Medium and Deep(Phenol) Chemical Peeling.

What kinds of acids are used in Chemical Peeling?

In Light Chemical Peeling, Alpha-Hydroxy Acids (AHA), Beta-Hydroxy Acids (BHA), jessner solution and low-concentrated Trichloracetic Acid (TCA) are the most frequently used substances.

From Medium Chemical Peelings, TCA peeling is the most frequently used one.

In recent years, it has become possible to get more effective results by using different solutions consecutively.

Who are not eligible or appropriate for Chemical Peeling?

Chemical Peeling is not applied during fever blister/cold sore infection. For those who frequently have cold sore infection, it must be applied with appropriate protective treatment.

It is not appropriate for those who use epilating wax on face within last one week.

It may have adverse effects on those who received isotretinoin treatment, therefore it is not appropriate for those people.

More superficial applications must be preferred for those who have darker skin.

Things to consider after application

Skin should not be washed with hot water within the first twenty-four hours after the Chemical Peeling application.

Hand contact and skin irritation should be avoided as far as possible.

Within the first 3 days, skin should only be washed with water. Skin should not be washed with soap or shampoo in Chemical Peeling.

Since the fresh skin which arises following the peeling of upper layer of the skin is very sensitive to the sunlight, the skin should be protected from sun exposure by using SPF15 and above sun cream once every two hours.

What are the effects of the Chemical Peeling on the skin?

Especially after Medium Chemical Peeling, some temporary redness, incrustation and denudation may be observed on the skin. The crusts should not be removed to avoid any scar.

Within about 1 week, the skin returns to its normal condition and gains healthies and fresher look/appearance when compared to previous condition.

It is required to apply nutritious creams recommended by the practitioner expert after Peeling application.
