What is varicose?
The enlargement of the veins in our body is called varicose veins. Although it can be seen in the whole body, it most often occurs in the legs. It is seen as blue, red, purple colored blisters. The valves that recycle blood in the deep veins do not work properly in people with varicose veins.
What are the causes of varicose veins?
Genetic factors (family history) are effective in the formation of varicose veins. Inactivity, excessive standing, constant sitting, excessive weight, wearing high heels for a long time, pregnancy are other factors that play a role.
When is varicose veins dangerous?
Varicose veins can occur in superficial and deeply located veins in the legs. When superficial, it appears as thinner, red-colored capillary enlargements. These can more often cause cosmetic problems.
When there is enlargement in the deep veins, curvy, puffy blue-purple raised bumps that can be seen from the outside are seen. It may cause pain, less commonly, intravascular coagulation may be triggered, thrombophlebitis (infection in the vein) may develop, and clots may occur in other organs of the body. Darkening of the skin color, itching and sores may also occur in the varicose area. Therefore, especially when deep veins enlarge, control and treatment are absolutely necessary.
What is the easiest varicose treatment?
Treatment varies depending on the type of varicose. When superficial veins enlarge, they can be treated with Nd-yag laser.
For deeper veins, Doppler USG should be examined, sclerotherapy or surgical treatment can be applied. These methods are applied by cardiovascular surgeons.
How is varicose veins treated with laser?
Nd yag laser treatment is a very good option for superficial vasodilation. Especially suitable for application in autumn and winter months. The application is performed with a device blowing cold air, a pain similar to laser epilation may be felt during the procedure. After the procedure, the veins become more prominent, dark in color, healing takes about 3 weeks. One month later, the person is seen again and a second session is applied and it is appropriate to re-evaluate after 1 year. The veins treated with laser are removed on the body side and connective tissue is formed instead. After the procedure, some people may have dark spots, in which case additional spot treatment can be added.
